These images take a lot of patience. First, you need a very low tide following a very high tide. The low tide has to occur first thing in the morning, because sunlight on the sand eliminates any contrast. Then, you walk about a mile down the beach, and nine times out of ten, you won't find any worthwhile images. However, you will get a very nice walk out of it. And often, you find an image that sparks your imagination; the sand tells stories that you never would have dreamed of.
