Jennifer J. Saracino - Artist Statement
My images are a true reflection of who I am as an individual. I love being part of nature, and not being constrained by what others consider correct. This I believe has led me in my current direction and photographic processes.
My camera of choice is my Holga, a medium format camera. I often create photographic montages in camera by double, triple, or even quadruple exposing the film. I then have my film cross-processed from negative to positive or positive to negative. This causes a tweaked perspective on the scene's natural colors that I believe enhances the inherent mood of the photograph. The final result is a representation of my life, vision, and passions.
"It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the extraordinary." - David Bailey
